This image is so beautiful from Dear Lizzy that I thought I would use it to illustrate my New Year's post. I have been choosing one word(s) to incorporate into my life every year for the past six years. Here are the previous selections:
DREAM - 2007
PASSION - 2008
FOCUS, ENGERGY, and TRUST - 2009
BELIEVE - 2010
FLOURISH - 2011
SUPPORT -2012
The word that has kept showing up for me the past few weeks has been:
CHERISH -2013
cher*ish |ˈCHeriSH|
verb [ with obj. ]
protect and care for (someone) lovingly: he cared for me beyond measure and cherished me in his heart.
• hold (something) dear: I cherish the letters she wrote | (as adj. cherished) : cherished possessions.
• keep (a hope or ambition) in one's mind: he had long cherished a secret fantasy about his future.
ORIGIN Middle English (in the sense ‘treat with affection’): from Old French cheriss-, lengthened stem of cherir, from cher ‘dear,’ from Latin carus .
Cheers to 2013!
The second reason is that you get to make your own hours. Of course, this is a double edged sword. One of the benefits of working in some jobs is that when the whistle blows, you're finished. Working your own hours means you sometimes work much longer than you normally would at a standard nine to give, but something about working for yourself makes them much more preferable.
