I lived in Raintree Apartments in Provo while attending Brigham Young University from January 1986 to August 1988. Lots of good friends and memories were made in apartment #120. Someone set up a Facebook page in honor of Raintree residences. Here's the description and I think it's pretty accurate:
For all those OLD people who used to live in the Raintree apartments in the 80's.
For all those who lived across from Apollo burgers and gained their college 10 from their fries and fry sauce or who kept Tanks alive by purchasing those mouthwatering pink cookies.
For all those who shopped at Food 4 Less, dated at Movies 8 and enjoyed the ice cream at Carvels (was that the name--help me out)
For those who went to the Y. Or the V.
For those who enjoyed FHE in the clubhouse.
For those who tanned at the pool or jumped from the club house roof into the pool.
For those who enjoyed flour bomb wars and hide and seek.
For those who got towed from the parking lot for trying to make a parking spot where there wasn't one.
At least once a summer, I take my kids to Lagoon. I usually hate going because it's hot, with long lines and millions of people. This year, we went on a day that barely hit 80 degrees. That is unheard of here in Utah in July.
My SIL Raquel came up and it's now become a tradition that we go to Lagoon together. Keaton was so excited that his cousins Kaiden, Hannah and baby Ella were here. I didn't take a picture of the big kids, but Jacek, Carlie and Petey came too.
We went on the Dragonfly...
and the Dinosaur Drop...
I had to go with Hannah because she wasn't tall enough to go without a "responsible person". Keaton thought he would qualify because he's very responsible. I thought that was sweet.
Speaking of tallness, this boy was not happy after those initial two rides because the attendants wouldn't let him on certain rides because he was too tall.
If you look to the far left of the photo, there's a maroon circle with a bit of an arrow pointing to the number 54. If you were over the 54, then you couldn't go on that ride. Note that Keaton definitely stands above the 54 and is more like at 56. (I then remembered that last year, he was really close to the 54 and I had the thought that next year ((which is now)) he would be too tall. Also note that the smile here was BEFORE the attendant told him he was too tall.
Here's the photo AFTER he couldn't go on the ride.
Keaton was really sad when he wasn't able to go on the car ride. I have some great photos of him on those cars and I'm sad there will be no more.
So instead of rides, they played a few games and won a few toys. They all wanted a mixed up icee and while waiting in line, gave each other group hugs.
Ella finally gave it up at the end of the day and zonked out with all the beloved toys surrounding and protecting her.
The finale was playing in the water, but that didn't last very long since it wasn't a really hot day. They got chilled very quickly.
It was a fun day and everyone left happy, especially this little big guy.
