For Today...February 23rd

Outside my Window...grey and cloudy.  I think it's suppose to rain.  Almost all of the snow has melted and the yard is a yucky mess.

I am thinking....I need to focus on getting my list of chores done today.

I am thankful...I get to see my friend Laura this week from Washington D.C.

I am going...to the grocery store after I drop Keaton off at school and then later to Jacek's basketball game.

From the kitchen this week...lasagna, caesar salad, bran muffins, chicken noodle soup and creamy chicken and noodles.

I am wearing...black sweats w/black hoodie.

I am going to start reading...Inkspell because I finished Inkheart the other day.

I am hoping...the Wasatch Varsity team wins both of their games this week.  If they do, then they will advance to the playoffs.

I am creating...Valentine pages for the Kindergarten class scrapbook. 

I am hearing...Keaton drumming away on something downstairs.

Around the house...cooking, cleaning and getting ready for my company tomorrow.

One of my favorite things...having dinner with old friends.

Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Jacek has two Jr. High basketball games at 3:00 today and Wednesday.  The kids have haircuts today.  Tomorrow is beach day at Keaton's school.  I am visiting teaching tomorrow morning and then Laura will come over from her sister's house.  We're meeting up with a couple of old friends for dinner tomorrow night.  I have a quick dentist appt. on Wednesday plus Bunco that night.  Keaton has a 100 day party on Thursday, which he is stressed out about all ready.  My sister Jackie is flying in that night.  Basketball practice Friday night and two games on Saturday.

pump n run won the president's day tournament

Jacek's team won their first AAU basketball tournament together this weekend.  They won all 5 games and Jacek had incredible stats for all of them.  He is an amazing player.  It has been so fun watching them pull together as a team and play well.

double overtime win for the warriors

Varsity finally won a game yesterday.  We played the Generals and at one point in the game we were ahead by 20 points.  I thought we had the game in the bag and was feeling pretty confident in our victory. Until the Generals came back to tie the game with 8.2 seconds left in the game.  So we went to a 4:00 minute overtime.  We started strong, but those pesky Generals just wouldn't give up.  We were down by 3 with only a few seconds left on the clock and our hero Garrett drained a three pointer to put us into another overtime.  It was crazy!  Jacek finished out the game strong and we finally clenched the game by about 6 points in the end.

For Today...February 9th

Outside my Window...it's pretty gray and stormy looking outside this morning.  It is suppose to really snow later this afternoon and evening.

I am thinking....how amazing it is to reconnect with old friends through Facebook.

I am thankful...Jacek is finally feeling better and able to go to school today.  He has missed way too much school these past two weeks.

I am going...to lunch with my friend Lorelei and then to the grocery store.

From the kitchen this week...my culinary goals this week are homemade lasagna, ham fried rice and dessert for our Snowbird party on Tuesday.

I am wearing...my favorite black sweatpants, pink/black/white shirt and a warm black fleece pullover.

I am reading...Inkheart because I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie.

I am hoping...it snows a lot this week.  We need the moisture plus it looks ugly when it rains and melts the snow.

I am creating...friends on Facebook!

I am hearing...Asia smacking her lips.

Around the house...putting the last of the Christmas decorations away and picking up the house before the cleaning team comes tomorrow!

Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Jacek has a Jr. High basketball game at 3:00 today plus Super League basketball practice tonight.  Lunch with my friend Lorelei because we both had to cancel last week because our kids were sick.  Tomorrow we go up to Snowbird and have our annual dinner with the Lysenko and DeCoopman families.  Another Jr. High and Super League game on Wednesday also Keaton's class field trip to the post office.  President's Day basketball tournament this weekend.

reconnecting with old friends

There was a mini Raintree Apartment #120 reunion yesterday down in American Fork. My adorable and bubbly friend Krissy's son is going on an LDS mission to Mexico, so we had to go down and eat nachos with them before he left.  I was also delighted to see my dear friend Lisa, whom I haven't seen in over 7 years.  Too much time has escaped between visits and it was good to catch up a little bit.  (That will not happen again, gwirls!)  Love you guys to pieces.

After chatting with Lisa and Krissy yesterday, I broke down and joined Facebook.  Very surreal experience as you reconnect with people you haven't seen or spoken to in 10, 20 or even 30 years. Freaked me out a bit at first, but I can see why everyone has been bitten by the bug.  

A Shout Out to to my first 12 Facebook Friends!  "Hi" to Shellie, Jill B., Laura, Gary, Ken, Irene, Karen, Jill G., Brad, Lisa, Krissy, and Evan.  Here's to many, many future friends on Facebook!

Also, got to pick up these fine folks from the airport late, late last night and deposit them in their waiting Toyota at the 7-11 at the mouth of the Cottonwood Canyons. (Another mini, mini Raintree reunion!)  

We all can't wait to come play, eat and swim with the whole gang on Tuesday night!

bad luck

Jacek woke up in the middle of the night with an earache!  He hasn't had an earache for years and years. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday and everything checked out fine. Today was a different story.  Dr. F heard a little crackling in his lungs and his ear was very infected.  He has bullous myringitis which is a blister on the eardrum and a touch of walking pneumonia.  She put him on antibiotics and gave us some numbing drops.  Poor dude!  When I asked her how you get it she says, "Bad luck".  

we're back...

from living it up last week at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach.  I seriously thought about not coming home..ever!  It was beautiful weather 75-80 degrees every day and they spoiled us rotten. Here's a picture of little Richie Rich poolside.  I'll post more pictures and the whole story later.
