Keaton is getting better with Asia. I think at first he was a little jealous and wasn't sure of his role in the family. He's been the baby for 5 1/2 years and that role was clearly defined. Then, in walks this new puppy, and he no longer feels secure. He sees Jacek and Daddy play with the puppy A LOT and me giving the puppy all of my attention too. Keaton is used to being center of attention all the time. I'm sure these past few days have been hard on him.
Then, there is the dog-anxiety he has and that just adds to the problem. He has come a long way in the past year, but he still gets really jumpy when Asia lunges at him to play. And then there are those razor sharp teeth and nails. OUCH!!! I've been pretty careful about Keaton being alone with the dog at all and really not made an effort to have them interact much.
But the past two days, I have tried to praise him more and more as he interacts with Asia. He likes to give her treat bones and roll the ball to her. I tell him what a good big brother he is and he just beams and says, "Thanks, Mom."
So, needless to say, I was tickled pink when I came upon this sight today.
note: don't you love those scrapped up knees? classic five year old boy.
